933 New Folder Summer Sampler
New Folder is proud to present the first direct global link to our work.
For the first time all producers from the Copenhagen based music collective New Folder have teamed up to present an exclusive 37 minutes compilation. The sampler, compiled by New Folder’s own Optimus Crime aka Nabo, includes exclusive unreleased material from beatmakers Eloq, Papa, Bokal, Vktr, Nabo and Aslope. These might be house hold names to many Copenhagen based beatdiggers, but this time we want to present our work to a broader audience and musical comrades we haven’t met yet.
We want to celebrate the diversity in modern music. The global development in beatmusic which is happening right now is a main inspiration and we embrace the surprising freshness in new sounds from around the world.
In some ways there are big contrasts among the producers in New Folder but we all have one thing in common: the passion for exploring new sounds in order to provide a steady groove. It’s hard to say if the output is hip hop, but we are all more or less beat orientated. We don’t like to label the music and define it as a definitive genre, but we must admit that the recent years’ development in US and UK bass music have inspired us during the past few years.
The sampler consists of 15 tracks bound together in one long mix introduced by Vktr’s gentle touch in Summer Gayness. Later on the mix travels further on to more pumping beats in Aslope’s ’Stories’, Papa’s percusiive sampling, and laidback energy from Eloq. The almost sultry ’Forgotten Xavier’ by Bokal sums up the summer freshness we wish to provide and leads over to Nabo’s happy, yet pumping wonkyhop. Well, it’s hard to sum up this compilation.
You’re much better off just listening for yourself.
Alongside making tunes we have presented household names like Clouds and Gaslamp Killah as well as playing alongside artist like Samiyam, Nosaj Thing, Dimlite, Tue Track and Danish electronic godfather Opiate.
